Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 Levis Commons Cup

Coaches and Managers,

Thanks for stepping forward and volunteering to help with the tournament needs.  Many of the requirements are now filled.  We have two very important positions yet to have anyone step forward; Field Czar and Sponsorship/Donation.

We are finding that many companies and business want to be involved through sponsorship or donation; we need someone to communicate, gather information and beat the bushes for additional sponsors.

The Field Czar will be responsible to schedule the volunteers for field marshals, parking marshals, referee tent, trash clean up and all things related to running the fields.

Our next Tournament Committee meeting is December 3 and I would like to fill these positions by then.

Most of the remaining needs for volunteers will be with field marshal, concessions, referee tent, parking marshal and field maintenance.  We will block these activities into 2 hour sessions. These activities will require an army of hundreds.

The tournament is shaping up very well and will generate a great revenue base for our club as we move forward.

Friday, Nov. 20, 2009  Tournament Volunteers

Coaches and Manager,

A number of teams have responded very quickly with the request to help at the tournament.  We have filled the requirements for Trophy Distribution, registration and coach reception.  Please consider scheduling your team for field marshal or other field types of help.  If we get enough people to help, no one will have to donate more then 2 hours. I understand that the parents want to watch their kids play and we will try to be flexible when scheduling.

Again, thanks for getting to me so early.

Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 Follow Up Pacesetter Tournament

This is a follow up to the Dec. 5th tourney.  I need to confirm who is going to be there for sure so that Pacesetter can put together a schedule for the day.  I know that U8 boys gold and black teams, U9 black/white boys combo team.  Everyone else please let me know either way ASAP.

Thank you,
Justen Harman

Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 Levis Commons Cup Tournament

Coaches and Managers,

The Levis Commons Cup Tournament is scheduled for April 24, 25 & 26, 2010.  The weekend will be filled with many events in addition to PSC hosting 160 soccer teams from across the region.  We are very excited about this unique event combining Soccer, Wellness and Health Education all in a first time ever showcase.  Levis Commons, our main sponsor for the tournament, will be hosting many venues such as entertainment in the Town Center, a family friendly comedian at Fat Fish, movie night for the kids, music and a bon fire. In addition, they will be working with the retailers and restaurants for discounts and deals.  Our other sponsor for the tournament is ProMedica.  They will be providing first response trainers at the soccer fields in addition to a series of educational and informational talks on Saturday at the Levis Commons Town Center.  We are planning to have game fields for the U9 and U10 Divisions right in the green spaces at Levis Commons along with using our 199 fields.

When the event was announced in September we said we wanted 100% participation of the PSC teams in the tournament.  Not only does this include teams playing in the tournament, but parents and coaches helping with the event. As you can imagine, putting on an event of this magnitude requires many volunteers. The Tournament Committee is in place, but we are looking for individual volunteers for the following roles:

Head Field Marshall – Responsible to schedule the field marshals, parking attendants, trash collection, referee tent helpers and all things field related.

Head Score Keeper- Responsible for collecting game scores from field marshals, posting score and records on the website and field boards

Advertising and Sponsors collector- Seek out sponsors and advertising donations.

We will need team participation in the following area:

Team Registration – Friday evening registration and check in

Coaches Reception – Friday evening event at Hilton Garden Inn

Layout, set up and lining fields – Week of April 20

Trophy & Award distribution – Sunday afternoon

Field Marshals – Saturday and Sunday (2 hour blocks)

Parking attendants – Saturday and Sunday (2 hour blocks)

Trash Collection and Referee Tent– Saturday and Sunday (2 hour blocks)

Scorer Table helpers– Saturday and Sunday (2 hour blocks)

Please discuss with your team the importance of this event and the area(s) your team will help. Forward your requested service areas to Jim Russell at jrussell99@woh.rr.com

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009  Pacesetter Tournament

Hello PSC coaches/managers for U8-U10 boys and girls.  Pacesetter is moving forward with this tournament previously mentioned and is trying for Dec. 5th starting in the morning and running all day.  Our cost to play is split each games referee costs.  So I figured in an extra $7-8 dollars per player to their winter fees to cover our games.  I know a few have emailed me already, but really need to know who is planning on attending this very inexpensive event against probably our best competition.  I would like to let Pacesetter know exactly how many of us by the beginning of next week.

Thank you, Justen Harman

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 November/December Footskills

This year we'll have two options in terms of Locations.
Monday sessions are offered at both GMI and the Maumee Soccer Centre.
Tuesday sessions are offered only at GMI

Attached are the documents for both locations.  GMI  Maumee Soccer Centre

The price for the footskills at the Soccer Centre is a few dollars less because GMI's cost to rent their field is higher than Maumee's. Last year the sessions filled up very quickly.  So this year's will be again first come first served.

Have a great day.

Any questions send them my way
Jorge

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 Indoor Tournament

I'm working with Danny Fisher, the Director of Pacesetter Soccer Club, on having an indoor tournament at their new facility for our U8 boys.  He has since mentioned that he would be interested in all the teams U8-U10 boys and girls at Perrysburg Club.  So the reason I'm contacting you is if you could help me contact our other teams in those age brackets to see who might be interested in creating a tournament.  We're thinking that it would be some time between mid November to mid December.  If those teams could let us know ASAP would be very helpful in moving this along.  If anyone has any questions or concerns they can contact me directly.

Thank you,
Justen Harman

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 Fund Raiser Dinner Tickets

The question has come up regarding tickets for the dinner and raffle.  For the most part, we will issue tickets at the door.  Some have asked for tickets to hand out at the time of the money exchange.  If you would like to have Dinner / Raffle tickets to sell, I will be at the building at the 199 field on Thursday, Oct 1 from 6-7pm.  I will have an envelope for each team with a group of tickets.  You can return the envelope with money, ticket stubs and any unsold tickets to me at the Club meeting on Monday, Oct 12.  Please send me an e-mail on Friday, Oct 9 with your count so we know how to plan.

Anyone wishing to drop off their team basket can do so on Thursday, Oct 1 from 6-7 at 199. I will also be at the 199 location on Saturday, Oct 10 from noon to 1 to receive team baskets.

Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009  PSC Important Deadline

The club officers and the fundraising committee met this week to discuss the upcoming PSC fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, 6:00pm at Heatherdowns Country Club.  As you know, we have asked each team to contribute a basket valued at a minimum of $50 and to encourage their parents to purchase tickets to the event.  As of Thursday evening, we have heard back from TWO of our 27 teams in regard to baskets and have 22 confirmed for the dinner, 11 for golf.  As you can imagine, this is nowhere near what we need in order to make this a successful fundraiser.

The event itself will include a Grazing Style Dinner catered by City Barbeque, Reverse Raffle paying a total of $3500 to the top six places, a Silent Auction and Live Auction.

We are also waiting for confirmation on two guest speakers you won't want to miss.

This fundraiser is extremely important to the future of our club and we all need to do our part to make it a success.  The funds raised will allow us to keep player fees down for our families while still maintaining our fields and funding future projects.  To that end, we need the following from each team by the indicated deadlines.

DUE BY 10/2/09

  • Basket theme due to Aimee Parks, please reply to this email as soon as possible.

DUE BY 10/9/09

  • Basket valued at $50 or more to Jim Russell.  Email (jrussell99@woh.rr.com) or call (419-874-9293) Jim to make arrangements for drop off.
  • Each team to sell a minimum of EIGHT dinner tickets to the fundraiser.
    • Checks made payable to PSC for ticket sales should be mailed to:
      Jim Russell
      10394 Bridgewood
      Perrysburg, OH 43551
    • Dinner tickets are priced at $60/individual, $100/couple ($80/couple with only one reverse raffle ticket). 18 and over only.  Cash bar. Two part tickets will be given at the door for the reverse raffle.
    • Golf tickets are $55 per person and include 18 holes, cart and range ball.  Shot gun start at 9:00am limited openings.

Please contact Jim Russell, Jason McNamee or any of the board members with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your support!

As a reminder, we have asked all the teams to contribute an auction basket.

Monday, Sept. 7, 2009  I received a call from Arnold from the BG soccer club.  He wanted to know if we could send out an email to all our teams and ask that anyone that received a ticket during the BG tournament go to the BG Soccer website and send Arnold their information.  He is trying to get the university to waive these tickets and believes he will be successful, however the university wants a complete list of everyone filing an appeal.
